Patrick Collins is an associate attorney at Kilinski | Van Wyk where he specializes in the establishment and representation of special districts, including community development districts, improvement districts, stewardship districts, and recreational districts. He also represents private and public clients in construction law matters, serves as issuer’s counsel in conjunction with public financing, and represents landowners around Florida in conservation programs with the state.
Patrick began his legal career with a prominent Florida-based law firm representing large national insurance corporations in first-party property litigation matters with a specific focus on homeowners’ insurance. While in law school, Patrick held clerkships with the City of Clearwater’s Legal Department as well as with a financial services company’s global wealth division and their office of general counsel. These experiences have aided in Patrick’s transition to the Kilinski | Van Wyk team by giving him firsthand exposure to the development process and keen insights into his client’s asset management and protection needs. Patrick is passionate about shaping the future of Florida by helping clients create, finance, and operate vibrant communities and other development projects all over the state.
Outside of work, Patrick enjoys cooking, spending time with his friends and family in the great outdoors, exploring all the amazing things his home city of St. Petersburg has to offer, and rooting for his team, the Florida Gators.
Patrick graduated cum laude from Stetson University, College of Law. While in law school, he served on the Calvin Kuenzel Student Bar Association Executive Board as an ABA-Law School Division Representative and was chosen as a Stetson Ambassador, representing the law school on behalf of the Office of Student Affairs.
Patrick also served as a Teaching Assistant for Construction Law and held numerous clerkships where he focused on honing his professional skills in real-world environments. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Management from the University of Florida, College of Journalism and Communications.
